Patricia Reed is an artist and writer. Exhibitions have included those at the Witte de With (NL); Haus der Kulturen der Welt (DE); Kunsthaus Langenthal (CH); Württembergische Kunstverein (DE); Audain Gallery (CA); and 0047 (NO), amongst others. Recent texts have been published in: #ACCELERATE – The Accelerationist Reader (Urbanomic); The Psychopathologies of Cognitive Capitalism Vol. II (Archive Books); Intangible Economies (Fillip:Folio); C Magazine; Fillip Journal and Critical Spatial Practice (Sternberg). Reed plays host to the Inclinations Lecture series at Or Gallery in Berlin, where she also lives.
Kim Schoen‘s work explores the rhetorics of display. She received her M.F.A. in photography from CalArts in 2005 and her Masters in Philosophy from the photography department at The Royal College of Art in London in 2008. Select exhibitions of her work include Stupidious (South London Gallery, London, 2014), Unsparing Quality (Diane Rosenstein, Los Angeles, 2014), A Voyage Around My Room (Norma Mangione Gallery, Turin, 2010), and Trust Fall (The Whitechapel Gallery, London 2009). Schoen’s first essay “The Serial Attitude Redux” appeared in X-TRA Vol 12 no 2. Kim is also the co-founder and editor of MATERIAL, a journal of texts by visual artists.
Michaela Wuensch is currently a Marie-Curie-Fellow at University Potsdam, after she spent two years in Los Angeles to conduct her research on repetition and seriality in psychoanalysis and television. She received her PhD from Humboldt University with a dissertation on the serial killer as a medium of the unconscious some years ago. Since then she was a Post-Doc at the Jan-van-Eyck-Academie Maastricht and the Institute of Cultural Inquiry Berlin and Visiting Professor in Vienna. She is part of the collective b_books.
Stanya Kahn’s videos and drawings compress actions, images, and words to make poetic jokes, stories, and allegories. Often exploring rhetoric and the making of meaning and its undoing, Kahn’s formal strategies bring agency and failure into dystopic interdependence. Situating language in the foreground of works that are dialectically driven by the demands of the body, Kahn’s work seeks out the visceral pleasures and distresses of disorientation to elicit new ways of “reading.” Recent exhibitions include Grand Arts, Kansas City, Missouri; Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects; New Museum, New York; University Galleries of the University of Illinois, Normal; Pigna Project Space, Rome; and Cornerhouse, Manchester, United Kingdom. Kahn was a 2012 Guggenheim Fellow in Film/Video and a Artadia Grant Awardee in 2014.
